Paws moved over the rough ground, her tank like frame shone in the light of the moon. Daytime was drawing near and the night was coming to a close. Nothing major happened to Athena, only a few little changes that could be noticed if you watched and paid close attention. Black, brown, and tan frame moved along at a steady pace through the darkness toward the shimmering beast ahead. The waters lapped at the bank and the cold air floated around. Athena knew it would be close to freezing in there. Like the polar bear club of people, she found it to be exciting and full of pounding hearts. It took fun to the max to her. She was over her puppy life and too young to be an elder of anything, but she was in fact an adult. As the pure blooded shepherd moved closer to the water, her paws quickened over the snow. Soon she was at the muddy bank and she wasted no time.
Haunches pulled under her frame and her back paws sank from her weight as she shoved her frame up and into the water. Tank built frame curved up and into the water. Front paws slammed through the water's surface just as the sun was starting to warm up the looks of the dark sky. Water flew around as she leaped forward again, this time the water was up to her chest. One more leap and she was totally under, her long fur catching the freezing water in it and holding it there for later. Her long muzzle lifted up as her head came up. Pointed ears popped forward as she barked. The noise rang out over the lake, growing in sound. It wasn't for help, just from pure excitement and adrenalin running through her frame. The sun was now peaking up over the horizon and she headed for shore. It was fun while it lasted, but if she remained in freezing waters too long then that would be the death of her.
Fur clung to her ribs as she moved up and out of the water. Winter was always rough, but she had lived through a few of them and still lived on. That had to mean something about her. Her tank like frame was now softer in look, she looked more like the female she was. Well, except for her longer teeth. Athena licked her chops as a foul bird hit the ground in search of food. Her frame lowered as she began to crawl toward it, her whole frame wet already was now collecting snow along with it. The wind wasn't helping her either. It was long and cold. As she crept, the bird kept hopping around, something spooked it and it took flight. Athena leaped up in the air, her strong jaws snapped shut. As she spit out her prize, the female snorted in hate. Only a few tail feathers. She shook her frame to rid it of most of the extra water and then sat her shepherd frame down in the snow, waiting to see if the bird would come back. Most likely not, but she could wish.
T.O.D. - end of night to start of day, freezing temperatures and a cold wind is blowing
